As some of you may know, our last Bluebonnet attempt was rather interesting, in a scary, huge, snake kind of way. My desire was to get a picture of J Skye running down the hill toward me, instead we got a picture of a HUGE snake J Skye stepped on. You can refer back to May ’10 for that adventure. This year it was less eventful, but I can close my eyes and sleep at night, not close them and see SNAKES in my mind! I will admit, I moved slowly through the flowers this time…watchful eye on anything that moved! And yes, I know, the first picture below is of J Skye running again…at my request again…but it’s such a cute picture, you do understand why I’d ask, right???? Plus, daddy was right there – to scream with J Skye if they saw a snake.

Graduation

Our little man has graduated from preschool! He has loved attending preschool at Bristol Lane, but for various reasons we are going to homeschool him until kindergarten starts in August. But being ones who like to celebrate any and all milestones, we had a little graduation ceremony! The cap and gown were J’s from when he graduated college and look how well it fits Skye! The kid won’t stop growing… OK, so I had to do some alterations and for those that know me, I promise, no sewing was involved! Just a few hair clips and scrunchies and, well, this is what happens…

J Skye, mommy and daddy are so proud of you! Granted, in this picture you like like you are worried about the future and what to do with your degree, but we promise…you have plenty of time to think about that. Later! For now, continue growing your imagination and enjoy all the moments with your child-like sense of adventure!

So my sweet husband asked me when I was going to update the blog again. I didn’t even know he had been viewing it, so that made me happy! Then I went out to look at it and saw that OCTOBER was the last time I posted anything! OK, so like everyone else, I’ve been busy. But seriously, I haven’t been that busy! We’ve had fun over the past few months, but I’ll only update some highlights! When you consider Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, snow days, ice days, and more have happened since the last post, be very thankful that I’m only putting up a few pictures for your viewing pleasure. And I will do my best to keep this updated more as the adventures continue!!!

Has the Prince found his Princess?

So awhile back I mentioned J Skye had his first crush. Well, it appears that crush is lasting… It all started last Halloween when he saw her, sitting on a couch at a party, in her Cinderella dress, looking somewhat sad. J Skye asked, “why is Cinderella sad?” – because honestly, she’s a princess and all that, why would a princess ever be sad, I want to be a princess, I’d never be sad…anyhow, I got off track – so J Skye, crush, Cinderella, AKA Daniela, which does kind of rhyme, so it may be telling????? After that party, at every playgroup he wanted to know if Cinderella was going to be there. I then had to explain that she would not be there in her dress, it would be Daniela and she’d be in her street clothes, (side note, I told her mom the story today and saying ”street clothes” really doesn’t sound good). Well fast foward to today and the 2 have become buddies. And since J Skye thinks he’s a prince (when he’s not Spiderman or Superman or Luke Skyewalker or Darth Vadar or Skyedreamer the Starchild), it’s only fitting that Cinderella has caught his eye.

Last weekend was OU/Texas weekend and I have to start with WOOHOO!! OU won! It wasn’t pretty, they didn’t play well, but they won and we’ll take that! Daddy got to go to the game and we got to spend the day with the Princess and nanny. We hit the yard sales, the stores, food, bubbles, game on TV, playing, being butterflies and Spiderman. There was a small nap in there and nanny read an endless array of bedtime stories until the gang came home. Here’s a few pics from the day…

Our little man is growing up (so, so fast!!!!!) and today was his 1st day of Preschool!!!! He was so excited to start today, was in my room at 6:20 (right after daddy left for his school) dressed in his “1st day of school” shorts and holding his “1st day of school” shirt, asking if I’d help him with the buttons! Mommy wasn’t ready! And it’s not because I hadn’t had my coffee, it was because I just wasn’t ready! But we got him dressed, fed, said many good-byes to the cat and off we went to school. We BOTH did so good at school, but mommy cried on the way home when she called daddy! But I was soooooooooooo brave at school (yeah mommy!). In the end, he had a terrific day! And can’t wait to go back! So much so that he said he rather go to school than run errands with me tomorrow!!!! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

We are so excited and SO PROUD of our little man! He just loved school! And we loved that HUGE smile on his face!

In July we decided it was time to add to the family….now don’t go and get all excited! No pregnancy, no labor, just going to the rescue shelter and getting a new family member!

Just couldn’t resist her! She’s 7, so she’s considered a senoir citizen and at first – she really acted like one. And after a few weeks, BOOM! That old lady got her 2nd wind! And here I thought we found a mellow-yellow kitty, perfect for us. Nope, she started hanging out with a 4 year old and it went wild from there! Luckily, she came without any claws!!! Just a whole lot of fluff!!!

Our goal this summer was to get our little guy in the pool more and hopefully swimming some. The summer started with his wearing a floating and NOT wanting to go under. Then we moved on to each day we were at the pool he had to go under 4 times, since he’s 4 (which made sense to him). Then we moved on to more daring measures – if he yelled “NO!” when it was time to go under or grabbed my bathing suit to stop from going under, mommy would throw him in the air and then he’d definitely go under…when he landed. Well, he survived it all and here’s from a few weeks ago!

Colorado Vacation

AH yes, summer time! In Texas, it really heats up, so we headed to Colorado this year! Once there, I really had to ask “Why don’t I live in Colorado?” Of course, it wasn’t in the dead of winter, but still! It’s just so beautiful…

Once upon a time we were blessed to have the Greens live a few houses down the street from us. But then they left …broke my heart. And guess where they live now???? I’m thinking you smart ones guessed Colorado! Ding Ding Ding! Sometimes life is no fun for the smart ones, knowing all the answers! But for those still guessing (even after I said Colorado), the Greens now live in Colorado! And I’m thinking people are now putting it together – YES, we went to visit the Greens in Colorado! Had blast with them and traveling around parts of Colorado! Here are some pictures from the trip!
